Junior Master Naturalist is a new program designed to engage 5th-6th grade nature lovers with educational training and practical experiences in nature in and around Bastrop County. It is a 2 year certification program beginning in the fall of 2016.There will be 13 sessions and 3 field trips. Field trip times will be determined at a later date. At least one parent is required to accompany youth on field trips. Junior Master Naturalists will learn about birds, bugs, reptiles, mammals, trees, weather, water, astronomy, and geology and more. Each session will include expert training from a Certified Texas Master Naturalist, hands on labs to inspire young naturalists, and assistance in authoring personal nature journals to encourage a lifelong appreciation of nature. All participants will be encouraged to volunteer in nature related activities after completion of the course. Limited to 15 students.
