Junior Master Naturalist is a new program designed to engage 5th-6th grade nature lovers with educational training and practical experiences in nature in and around Bastrop County. Experience the wild side of Bastrop! There will be 8 sessions and 2 field trips. At least one parent is required to accompany youth on field trips. Junior Master Naturalists will learn about birds, bugs, reptiles, mammals, trees, weather, water, astronomy, and geology and more. Each session will include expert training from a Certified Texas Master Naturalist, hands on labs to inspire young naturalists, and assistance in authoring personal nature journals to encourage a lifelong appreciation of nature. All participants will be encouraged to volunteer in nature related activities after completion of the course.
